BECU wire transfer: fees, cutoff time and how to prepare

Stepped ivory document panels and a brass ribbon lead to a teal recipient tray with a sealed envelope.

Short answer

BECU’s general wire guide lists $25 for outgoing domestic wires and $35 for international wires. Requests made by 1 p.m. Pacific on a business day can be sent that day when all requirements are met. BECU charges no incoming wire fee. Domestic incoming instructions use routing number 325081403 and the member’s 10-digit account number. Business online wires have separate enrollment and pricing.

Prepare the right request channel, fee budget and recipient details before arranging a BECU wire.

You have a recipient’s wiring instructions, but the form asks for a ‘creditor’ or ‘creditor agent.’ Start by identifying who receives the money and which institution handles it. This guide turns BECU’s published instructions into a preparation worksheet, then explains fees, timing and incoming wires.

What are BECU’s wire-transfer fees?

BECU’s wire-transfer support page lists the general outgoing fees below. Its incoming-wire instructions state that BECU charges no fee to receive a wire, while other institutions handling it may charge. Details were checked October 31, 2026.

The $20 business online fee comes from BECU’s business-wire page. Match the price to the service you actually use. Ask about any receiving-bank charges or currency conversion before confirming the total.

What is the cutoff, and can you request a wire on Saturday?

BECU’s outgoing-wire worksheet states that domestic and international requests made by 1 p.m. Pacific, Monday through Friday, are sent that business day when the requirements are complete. Domestic requests after the cutoff move to the next business day. BECU sends wires on business days, excluding federal holidays.

The worksheet permits in-person domestic requests during Saturday service hours. Sending takes place on a business day, so plan the request date and send date separately. Use BECU’s current location or contact information to confirm when you can submit the request.

BECU’s support page says domestic wires can take up to three business days to be received and processed, and international wires up to 14 calendar days. Ask the recipient which receipt deadline applies alongside BECU’s expected send date.

Hypothetical example: you bring a domestic request on Saturday for a payment due Monday. Ask which business day BECU will send it and what the recipient requires by its deadline. If Monday is a federal holiday, discuss the next available processing day before making a commitment.

How do you send a wire through BECU?

BECU’s general support instructions direct members to arrange outgoing wires by phone or at a BECU location. Gather the recipient’s instructions first. Its outgoing worksheet also calls for personal identification, a daytime phone number and any additional verification needed for the request.

Ask about the funds before setting a date. BECU says funds from an unconfirmed source must be in the account for at least 10 business days before a wire. Its confirmed-source examples include incoming wires, direct deposits, ACH transfers and cash deposits. Have BECU identify how the rule applies to the funds you plan to send.

BECU offers a separate domestic Business Online Wire Transfers service. That service requires setup through Business Online Banking and separate drafting and approval users under dual control. Business online limits can vary; have the business representative confirm the applicable limit and fee for your account.

If you’re paying from a personal account, start with the personal wire-request channel. If you’re using an enrolled business account, follow its business workflow and approval requirements. Keep the request in the channel tied to your actual account.

What do ‘creditor’ and ‘creditor agent’ mean on the worksheet?

BECU’s outgoing worksheet includes ISO 20022 terminology beside familiar wire labels. The table below translates the domestic request fields into practical questions. Work from the full instruction sheet supplied by the recipient, including any intermediary and reference details.

Scroll across the table to see all columns.

Translate the wire fields before filling them in
Field on the worksheetPlain-English meaningWhat to confirm
Beneficiary party / creditorThe person or business receiving the paymentFull recipient name, address and account details
Receiving party / creditor agentThe receiving financial institution identified in the instructionsBank name and applicable routing details
Intermediary agentAn additional institution in the instructed payment routeWhether the instructions require another bank and its details
Remittance informationThe reference or payment explanation that travels with the wireThe required invoice, request number or payment purpose

Hypothetical example: you’re paying a business that uses an intermediary bank. The business remains the recipient, while the instructions identify the bank route and final account allocation. Have BECU review the complete fields together. The for-further-credit guide explains how a final-account reference fits into that route.

Which details do you need to receive a wire at BECU?

For U.S. dollars sent within the United States, BECU’s incoming instruction sheet specifies ABA 325081403 plus the member’s full name, address and 10-digit BECU account number. BECU’s routing-number page independently publishes the same ABA number.

Ask BECU to confirm the receiving account before sharing its details. Keep the full account number in a trusted channel. When you’re sending from BECU to another institution, obtain that recipient’s destination instructions; the account you pay from and the account receiving the wire occupy different places on the request.

For an incoming international wire, choose the section of BECU’s instruction sheet that matches the currency and sending location. Its U.S.-dollar international route uses Wells Fargo as an intermediary; foreign-currency sections have their own requirements. Use the complete current instructions with the sender’s bank rather than assembling fields from different scenarios.

How should you budget for the wire and follow up?

Hypothetical domestic budget: a $3,000 wire plus the published $25 general outgoing fee means setting aside $3,025 for those two items. BECU’s outgoing worksheet says the fee posts separately to the same funding account. Add any other confirmed charges to your plan before you approve the request.

Save the requested amount, recipient, submission date, expected send date and reference. A useful follow-up is: “My wire request is for [amount], submitted on [date], reference [reference]. Have all requirements been completed? What send date applies, and has the payment left BECU?” If it has been sent, ask which reference the receiving bank should use.

Contact BECU promptly through an official channel if a destination detail is wrong or a payment appears missing. Use the wire-tracking checklist to keep the bank and recipient records together while they investigate.

What should you check before a wire-funded Bitcoin purchase?

Get the purchase provider’s reviewed request and the instructions issued for that request before arranging the bank wire. The wire-transfer buying guide explains preparation, service fees, funding review, the final quote and wallet delivery. Budget the bank charge separately from the provider’s purchase charges.

Fiat2Bitcoin’s public purchase service remains in launch preparation. For any provider’s purchase instructions, use the verification checklist to compare the recipient, account, amount and required reference through a verified channel before authorizing the payment.
