Separate the wire from the Bitcoin purchase
The question ‘how long will it take?’ needs a destination. Do you mean when your bank sends dollars, when the purchase provider can use the funds, or when Bitcoin reaches your wallet? Those are different milestones. A useful estimate identifies the milestone and the conditions that must be met first.
For Fiat2Bitcoin's planned process, start with the wire-transfer Bitcoin purchase guide. An employee reviews the request and issues its specific bank instructions. Sending, receiving, clearance, accepting a quote and delivering Bitcoin remain separate steps. Registration and payments are unavailable while the site is prelaunch.

| Stage | Question to ask | What does not prove completion |
|---|---|---|
| Bank sending | Has the bank released this wire, or only scheduled it? | Submitting a form or seeing an account debit |
| Receipt and purchase review | Have the funds been received, matched to my request and cleared for the next step? | A sending receipt or tracking reference alone |
| Quote and Bitcoin delivery | Has the quote been accepted and the agreed Bitcoin delivered? | A completed bank transfer alone |
Check your bank's wire-transfer cutoff time
A cutoff is the bank's deadline for handling a request within a particular business day. Confirm the time zone and whether the deadline applies to online, branch or another sending channel. Ask about the intended amount and recipient, because an otherwise timely request may still need review.
For a concrete example, Wells Fargo says domestic digital wires submitted by 3 p.m. Pacific are typically sent that business day; later submissions move to the next business day. That is a Wells Fargo sending example, not a universal bank cutoff or a Bitcoin-delivery commitment. Its FAQ also describes additional review that can delay sending.
The payment network's operating hours and your bank's customer deadline are different. A network may remain open after your bank stops accepting same-day customer requests. Do not use a network closing time as permission to submit a last-minute purchase wire.
Do wire transfers work on weekends and holidays?
For U.S. wires using Fedwire, Saturdays, Sundays and designated Federal Reserve holidays are not funds-transfer business days. The current Fedwire schedule starts the next business day's processing at 9 p.m. Eastern on the preceding calendar day. For example, Sunday-night processing can belong to Monday's business day. It does not make Saturday a normal Fedwire business day.
Your bank may let you enter a request while processing is closed. That means a request can be recorded before it is sent. Ask for the effective sending date, especially around a holiday, rather than counting every calendar day as a processing day. Other payment systems or transfers within one bank may work differently; first confirm that you selected a wire.
Illustrative planning example: suppose a bank has a 2 p.m. Friday customer cutoff and you submit at 2:30 p.m. If its next sending day is Monday and Monday is not a holiday, plan around Monday processing. This example does not predict receipt on Monday or Bitcoin delivery that day. A separate review can still change the timeline.
Does the wire lock the Bitcoin price?
Do not assume it does. Under Fiat2Bitcoin's planned wire process, submitting a request or sending funds does not itself lock an exchange rate. Review the final quote, the Bitcoin amount, all disclosed charges and the acceptance deadline. A bank timestamp is not a quote-acceptance record.
After a Bitcoin transaction is sent, confirmation is another stage. Bitcoin.org explains that confirmation timing can vary. Ask the provider what evidence it supplies for delivery and verify the destination. A bank's same-day label cannot establish when a blockchain transaction will be confirmed.
If you are comparing payment methods before starting, use the ACH-versus-wire comparison. Compare the full purchase timeline and cost, not only how fast the bank payment moves.
When should you follow up on a delayed wire?
Use the estimate for your actual transfer. If the bank's stated sending or delivery window has passed, ask it for the current stage and an investigation if needed. If the bank says it has sent the wire but the purchase provider cannot match it, follow the wire-tracking checklist. Avoid sending a second wire just to make the order move faster.
Do not wait for a normal processing window if you suspect a wrong destination or fraud. Contact the sending bank immediately and read what cancellation and return requests can and cannot do.
- Record the bank's cutoff, time zone and expected sending date.
- Keep the verified instructions, purchase reference and bank confirmation together.
- Ask who confirms receipt and what remains before a quote can be accepted.
- Allow time to review the quote rather than relying on an assumed rate lock.
- Confirm the actual delivery record before treating the purchase as complete.
