Bank information checked October 19, 2026. This independent guide summarizes Bank of America’s public digital-wire guidance; it does not establish a banking partnership or confirm acceptance of a Bitcoin-related transfer. Use the bank’s own app, website or financial center for your account’s current terms.
For Fiat2Bitcoin’s planned process, start with the wire-transfer purchase pillar. Purchases remain unavailable during launch preparation. Wait for reviewed, request-specific instructions before funding; a public article is not a receiving-account instruction sheet.
How do you start a Bank of America wire transfer?
The bank’s digital-wire guide directs customers to Pay & Transfer in Mobile Banking or Online Banking. It also describes financial-center appointments. Follow the authentication and recipient checks in your own banking session; do not share a PIN or security code with a purchase provider.
First identify whether the required payment is actually a domestic wire, international wire or another bank-transfer method. A bank’s menu may offer several ways to move dollars, but they are not interchangeable. Our ACH-versus-wire comparison explains how to compare the routes without translating one method’s instructions into another.
For an outgoing purchase wire, the destination details belong to the verified recipient. Bank of America’s own receiving instructions serve a different purpose. Do not copy a routing number from a bank search result into the recipient field just because that is the bank you are sending from. Read the ABA-versus-SWIFT guide when the form asks for a bank identifier.
What are Bank of America’s published wire transfer fees?
The bank’s public guide lists the following charges. Check the actual fee, currency conversion and any account benefit before authorizing a transfer. A fee for receiving money in your Bank of America account is not automatically an extra sending fee on your outgoing purchase.
Scroll across the table to see all columns.
| Direction and route | Published bank charge | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Outgoing domestic | $30 | Actual sending-account fee |
| Outgoing international in USD | $45 | Other institutions’ charges may apply |
| Outgoing international in foreign currency | No outbound wire transfer fee | Exchange-rate markups apply |
| Incoming to Bank of America | May incur $15 per wire | Your account’s fee schedule |
These bank charges are separate from a purchase provider’s service fee. For a Bitcoin order, compare the bank-account outlay, amount expected to reach the recipient, and the final purchase quote. The Bitcoin purchase-fee guide explains that wider cost comparison.
What is the cutoff, and how long does a wire take?
The bank’s published guide gives a 5 p.m. Eastern sending cutoff, typical same-business-day domestic arrival and typical international arrival in one to five business days. Those are bank-transfer expectations, not guaranteed Bitcoin-delivery deadlines.
Imagine a fictional buyer preparing a domestic wire at 4:45 p.m. Eastern on a business day. They still need to finish the bank’s review and resolve a mismatch in the recipient reference. The fifteen minutes before the published cutoff are not a reason to bypass that check. They should ask the bank about processing if they cannot complete the verified request in time.
Even if that wire reaches the recipient the same business day, the buyer still needs the purchase record to confirm receipt, clearance, any quote acceptance and BTC delivery. Our wire timing guide keeps those stages separate. A screenshot of the bank’s submission screen does not complete all of them.
What is the Bank of America wire transfer limit?
Check the limit shown for your actual profile and transfer. The bank’s Online Banking Service Agreement, section 6.B and its footnotes, lists standard limits and says higher limits may apply with Secured Transfer, a registered security key or certain account relationships. It also describes daily and monthly limits and applies ACH/wire sending limits at the customer-profile level.
A balance large enough to cover a payment does not establish permission to send that amount. Nor should a figure in a general table be treated as every customer’s ceiling. Confirm the available amount and the bank’s required process before planning the purchase around it.
If a transfer exceeds the available limit, resolve the issue with the bank and purchase reviewer. Do not split a request into smaller payments to bypass a control. The purchase request, approved funding amount and bank’s permitted transfer need to agree before money is sent.
Example: reconcile the wire amount, fee and purchase reference
Consider a fictional $2,000 purchase request. Suppose the bank confirms a $30 sending fee charged in addition to the transfer, and the recipient is expected to receive the full instructed $2,000. The bank-account outlay in that scenario is $2,030, before any other charges. The example assumes the request is accepted by the bank and that the stated fee applies; it is not a live quote or a universal account entitlement.
The extra $30 is a bank charge. It does not increase the purchase request to $2,030 or establish how much Bitcoin will be delivered. Keep the bank confirmation, purchase request reference and final quote together so the amounts can be reconciled without counting a fee twice.
If the bank instead shows that a charge will reduce the amount sent or received, the illustration no longer matches the actual transfer. Resolve the funding amount with the reviewer before proceeding. For Fiat2Bitcoin’s separate service-fee policy and request-review sequence, use the wire purchase pillar.
Where do you check status, or report a mistake?
Use the original transaction in the bank’s official account view and match it to the purchase reference. If the records disagree, ask the bank about the dollar transfer and the purchase provider about the order. Our wire-tracking checklist explains which confirmations and references answer each question.
If you made an error or suspect fraud, contact the sending bank promptly through its official channel. Cancellation rights depend on the type and stage of the transfer. The Online Banking Service Agreement describes a limited cancellation window for qualifying consumer international Remittance Transfers; that rule should not be applied to every domestic wire. Read the transfer’s actual disclosure and our cancellation and return guide.
A bank recall request is not proof of recovered money or cancellation of a Bitcoin order. Keep the original records and request an explicit outcome before creating a replacement payment. For a future purchase, verify the request-specific wire instructions before funding.
