This guide supports the ACH Bitcoin purchase process. Fiat2Bitcoin remains prelaunch. No company ID or statement name shown in a search result should be treated as approved Fiat2Bitcoin payment instructions.
Where can you find an ACH company ID?
- Open your bank's official app or website and select the specific ACH debit or credit.
- Expand its details. Save the displayed company name, company ID if available, amount, date and transaction status.
- If the identifier is missing or abbreviated, ask the bank for the full ACH company identification and originator name associated with that entry.
- Compare the result with the receipt or order in the purchase provider's verified account portal. Ask the provider to explain any difference.
Nacha's consumer guidance directs payment questions to the bank or the organization initiating the payment. Nacha sets network rules; it does not hold your individual payment records. Contacting it with a transaction number will not give you an order-status lookup.
Start with the entry itself rather than a company name copied from a forum. Two similar amounts, a familiar name or a matching purchase date can be useful clues, but none alone establishes which order a debit belongs to.
Company ID, trace number and order number are different
In Nacha's ACH file specification, Company Identification is a 10-character alphanumeric field used to identify the originator. It is separate from the company name and from the trace number attached to an individual entry.
Scroll across the table to see all columns.
| Record | What it helps identify | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| ACH company ID | The originator associated with the ACH entry | Your individual Bitcoin order or authorization |
| ACH trace number | A particular bank-payment entry | Bitcoin delivery to a wallet |
| Purchase order reference | The provider's purchase record | That a bank debit has settled |
| Bitcoin transaction ID | An on-chain transaction, if one was sent | Who initiated an ACH debit |
If you already recognize the company but need to locate a particular payment, use the ACH trace-number guide. Keep both identifiers when available; substituting one for the other can send a support investigation in the wrong direction.
Can you look up a company ID online?
Some banks provide lookup tools. U.S. Bank's ACH Company Info page, for example, accepts a company ID to search for an originator's name and phone number. The page does not promise coverage of every ACH originator, so an empty result is not proof that a debit is fraudulent or valid.
For an unresolved entry, your own bank is the appropriate starting point. The Federal Reserve's Originator Contact Information process describes how a receiving institution can request contact details from the originating institution. It is a bank-to-bank process, not a public consumer search box.
A search result can help identify a possible company. It cannot confirm your authorization, the legitimacy of a purchase offer, or the current status of your order. Verify the connection through the bank and the provider rather than sending personal documents to a contact found in an unverified listing.
How do you match the debit to a Bitcoin purchase?
Imagine a hypothetical buyer who sees a $250 ACH debit but remembers the name of the purchase website rather than the name shown by the bank. The useful next step is to compare records, not to assume the debit is correct or start another $250 order.
- Ask the bank: Which company ID and originator name are attached to this exact entry?
- Ask the provider: Does this entry correspond to my order reference, amount and payment method?
- Check the authorization: Did you approve this amount and this payment arrangement?
- Check delivery separately: What is the order status, and is there a Bitcoin transaction record if delivery has occurred?
If you are unsure whether the provider pulls funds or you send them, review ACH debits versus credits. Do not send a manual transfer to replace an unresolved debit without clear instructions about the original payment.
What if you did not authorize the ACH debit?
Contact your bank promptly through its official app or a number you already trust. Nacha advises reporting an unrecognized, unauthorized debit to the bank soon because reporting time is limited. If others are authorized to use the account, check whether they recognize the payment without delaying a report of suspected misuse.
Preserve the entry details and relevant order records. Do not publish an unredacted statement or share bank-login credentials to obtain a lookup. A company ID is a payment identifier, not permission to debit your account.
If the bank says the entry was returned, the ACH return-code guide explains how to separate the bank result from the purchase outcome. A company-name match, a return or a pending status still does not establish that Bitcoin reached your wallet.
